1st June 2003, The Robin 2, Bilston

It had been just over two years since we last saw the mighty Thin Lizzy at the Academy in Brum. I must admit that although I love Lizzy, that the last time I saw them it was nothing special. Tonight, however, was another story entirely. With the new rhythm section of Michael Lee & Gary Liederman, this was the Lizzy of old. Firing on all cylinders and playing a blinding set with a few surprises in it.

The show opened in predictable style with 'Jailbreak', followed by 'Waiting For An Alibi'. In prime position in front of Scott Gorham, the old camera was already begining to overheat from overuse. After a cracking rendition of 'Don't Believe A Word', we get the first surprise of the night in 'Chinatown'. I won't be able to go into the Mangar for months without humming the riff and doing the evil deep laugh before I order some noodles!

After 'Cold Sweat' and a slow down on 'Sun Goes Down', the pace and the sound creep up again for 'Bad Reputation' and 'Killer On The Loose'. The show continues with 'Still In Love With You', ''Are You Ready', 'Massacre', 'Cowboy Song' and the inevitable, yet always fantastic, ''The Boys Are Back In Town'. They most certainly are, Stanley.
We get encores of 'Emerald' and 'Rosalie' before the ultimate finale of 'Black Rose'.
After the gig Stu swipes a set list, and we meet up with 'H'. We then meet up with Scott Gorham & John Sykes for a chat and photo. Marvellous.
